He now works full-time in his own studio, painting and printmaking after some fifteen years as Principal Teacher of Art at Portree High School, Isle of Skye. He exhibits regularly in several galleries on the islands and the mainland of Scotland.

He is currently exhibiting at the High Street Gallery, Kirkcudbright, the Gallery of the Scottish Borders Arts and Crafts Centre, Ancrum, Jedburgh and at the Orbost Gallery, Isle of Skye and he contributes annually to Glasgow School of Art at Kirkcudbright and to Grinneas nan Eilean, An Lanntair Arts Centre, Stornoway. He also delivered the Yates-Thompson Art Lecture at Harrow School Harrow-on-the-Hill, London and had a residence at Cowfold Printmaking Studio, Brighton.
He has works in the Western Isles Health Board, Grampian Health Board, Edinburgh City Council and the Scottish Office as well as in private collections in Europe and the USA. He is currently engaged on a large illustrative venture combining the work of several artists and printmakers with the writer and broadcaster Cailean MacLean, which will be exhibited in July 2007 as part of Highland Year of Culture and is entitled "Basking in the Warmth of the Reel". Also, he is preparing for an exhibition of his work at Odinstal, Germany in August 2007.
