Italian Passions Exhibition
Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh     ( December 9th - 15th 2007 )

Andrew McMorrine, Alasdair McMorrine and Marion Roberts are three artists who share a passion for all things Italian and who have worked and studied in Italy over many years.

All three visited Italy as young art students, the brothers McMorrine hitch-hiking there from Scotland via a wedding in Berlin, and Marion Roberts first visited Italy as a student and later with her husband in a 1935 Bentley from which they painted and sketched their way across the country.

All three have led parties of students on painting and study trips over many years to many areas of Italy. Their own initial fascination however was triggered by their excitement at the effects of light and shade on landscapes and buildings, and a lifelong response to the people and culture.

All three artists are currently engaged in several joint and solo exhibitions, including "Basking in the Warmth of the Reel", a celebration for the 2007 year of Year of Highland Culture in a variety of media and which it is intended to culminate in an exhibition and a publication.
